Questions to Ask at an Open House

Open houses are an extremely effective sales tool for sellers.

Potential buyers might be more inclined to make an offer if they get to see the home for themselves. If you’ve never been to an open house event, you might have a few qualms about the entire procedure. While the primary goal of an open house is to allow buyers to see the house for themselves, it can also be a great time to get additional information regarding the property.

As a novice, you might find yourself stumped on what questions to ask. Are there must-ask questions? Are there questions that shouldn’t be asked? You should never arrive at an open house unprepared. Asking questions is a must for every homebuyer. Preparing some questions beforehand is a great way to ensure you don’t leave any stone unturned.

Listing-Related Questions

  1. How long has it been on the market?
  2. Have there been any price changes?

Seller-Related Questions

  1. Why is the house being sold?
  2. Are there any current offers? Have there been previous offers?

Property-Related Questions

  1. Are there any current issues with the property?
  2. Have there been any renovations? If so, when?
  3. Are any of the appliances not included?

Environment-Related Questions

  1. What’s the neighborhood like?
  2. What places are nearby? Restaurants, parks, grocery stores, etc.
  3. What are the neighbours like? Do they have pets?

Asking the right questions at an open house can indicate whether a property is right for you or not. Instead of coming up with questions on the spot, make sure that you’re prepared with a set of questions the next time you decide to attend an open house to get all the critical information that you need.
